Biography

Year of Call: 2017

Tom was admitted to the profession in 2014 and called to the bar in 2017. He has a broad civil practice with a focus on civil and commercial matters. 

Prior to joining North Quarter Lane, Tom was an Associate to the Honourable Justice Dowsett AM of the Federal Court of Australia,  and worked at the Australian Taxation Office. Tom has an interest in intellectual property law and holds an LLM from the University of California Berkeley where he studied intellectual property law. He is presently a sessional academic at the Queensland University of Technology, and a member of Lawright’s pro bono panel.

Since his call to the bar, Tom has been briefed in administrative, commercial, corporations, professional negligence, property, and taxation disputes. Tom regularly appears unled in proceedings in the Supreme Court of Queensland and District Court of Queensland. He has also appeared led and unled in the Court of Appeal. In addition, Tom has also been briefed on a number of complex commercial matters including international commercial arbitrations and mining disputes.

Tom has been recognised by Queensland Doyle’s Guide as a Recommended Junior Counsel for Intellectual Property & TMT in 2023 and 2024.
