North Quarter Lane Chambers is proud to announce that one of its members, Avelina Tarrago, has been appointed to the Queensland Law Reform Commission.
Avelina joins the Commission for a 3-year tenure and is currently engaged in the critical mining lease objections review. This important review involves making recommendations regarding the processes for deciding contested applications for mining leases in Queensland under the Mineral Resources Act 1989 (Qld) and associated environmental authorities under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld). The mining objections process ensures that both public and private interests in mining projects are thoroughly considered when decisions are made about these projects.
Chambers congratulates Avelina on this well-deserved appointment and eagerly anticipates her valuable contributions to the Commission.
